The game was made to create media hype for the film. It allowed users to become either Sherlock Holmes or Dr Watson and to solve mysteries and interview suspects. It allowed the users to act as if they were the famous detective pair.

Why does the game operate using facebook?

Facebook was chosen to run the game as it has become one of the fastest growing and most popular social networking site. Everyone is now using facebook to communicate with their friends, but for companies it has become a huge marketing tool. The game allows people to play with their facebook friends and to update their status with their achievements.

Explain how the graphics, the gameplay and the overall design fit in to the overall marketing campaign for the film

The graphics are very high quality and make you feel like you are almost in the movie! The game play gives the users an idea what the story line might be. However the game has a brilliant story line, which made me thing that the film too will have a good story line. After playing the game and seeing the trailer, it really made me want to watch the film. I was intrigued to see what all the fuss was about. Which is why I went to watch it this weekend. I was very impressed!

times) in the synopsis. What do you think might be the filmmakers’ intention in putting together
these two seemingly opposing ideas?

In the synopsis word legendary and the word new is repeated a number of times. The representation of using repeating these words a number of times suggests to the reader that this is a new take on a legendary tale. It suggests that although the story will be along the same times, the way the characters are portrayed will be new style.
